MISSION: Help fulfill the Great Commission by winning, building, and sending in the power of the Holy Spirit and helping the body of Christ do evangelism and discipleship.
The primary purpose of the Global Digital Strategies VP team and GodTools team is to help radically accelerate the fulfillment of the Great Commission across all audiences using digital approaches, principles, and tools. The UX Designer will be responsible for shaping the user experience of our global digital properties, initially focusing on the GodTools brand/ecosystem and the Digital Academy training ecosystem. You will be responsible for shaping experiences for our users that maximize brand value, and increase user engagement leading to increased ministry fruitfulness. This role will work closely with the GDS VP team, the GodTools Product team and the LMS Solutions team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistently attend and participate in team/ministry devotional times.
Utilize various professional software tools/technologies to rapidly prototype and evaluate designs including wireframes, interactive prototypes, storyboards, and polished screen mockups for new features on our digital properties.
Create and assist in development of design and technical specifications. Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, systems interfaces and usability.
Assist front-end developers in writing responsive HTML/CSS code for user experiences.
Create a design framework that results in a consistent visual communication strategy for our GDS team and network that tells our story and motivates our constituents to increased involvement.
Assist stakeholders and leaders in seeing the impact and value of content and design strategies with social media, video, and animation.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of user-centered design and related design methodologies.
Advocate usability best practices for internal and audience-facing applications.
GodTools-Specific Responsibilities:
Help shape the user experience across the GodTools brand (app, website, social media, newsletter, partner resources, etc.) to maximize brand value and increase user engagement.
Create brand assets and visual design elements that could be used for marketing and partnership opportunities.
Turn audience research into usable tools/content to help more people share their faith.
Work with UI/Engineering side in product development.
Graphic design work to help supplement content/social strategy needs.
GDS-Specific Responsibilities:
Help shape the user experience across our Digital Academy training ecosystem (website, Gnowbe, Workplace, newsletter, etc.) to increase user engagement and ministry fruitfulness.
Continued design work around the Scale of Praxis/Audience Map and ongoing audience research to make it usable to national ministries and collaborators
Help in figuring out how to shape a good user experience across our global ecosystem of tools and platforms.
Help deepen our team and networks in user-centered thinking and design.
Help Gnowbe users think through their UX design to maximize user engagement and course effectiveness.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain expert knowledge current and emerging digital technologies & platforms, industry standards, developing trends, and UX/UI best practices, and apply them to our digital tools.
Produce or commission visual design elements and/or content, including: original illustrations, photoshoots, animations, flash, and video.
Perform other work-related duties and special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Strong knowledge of W3C recommendations, accessibility issues, and best practices.
Knowledge of digital marketing platforms, including content management systems.
Master of web standards and design principles.
Mastery of common tools: Adobe, Figma, Miro, version control, and wireframing software
Mastery of Web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript/Frameworks.
Strong design sensibilities: typography, composition, motion, and color theory.
Experience leading design projects, either as an individual or as part of a team.
ABILITY TO:
Maintain a broad understanding of issues related to the cognitive, social, cultural, technological, and economic contexts for design.
Expertly design to inform, inspire, educate, entertain, brand, market, and sell.
Develop solutions that address diverse users/audiences and organizational direction.
Understand and connect social media and the evolving interactions between the web, people, and the organization.
Be highly motivated, self-directed, enthusiastic, and truly passionate for user-centered design and user experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
4-year degree in HCI (Human Computer-Interaction), graphic/visual design, or related field. Equivalent work is a plus.
Advanced experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks or professional equivalent.
Experience in modern web application concepts and methods including (yet not limited to) user interfaces, image optimization, client side scripting, web accessibility standards, design & development standards, and cross-platform issues.
Proven creative thinking and problem-solving skills
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS
While not required, official awards and/or recognition within the field are a plus
